Every September, my closet gets confused before I do.

The calendar says fall.

The forecast says otherwise.

By lunch, I'm wondering why anyone is wearing a sweater.

By sunset, I'm glad I brought one.

I've stopped trying to force my wardrobe into a new season before the weather is ready.

Instead, I keep reaching for the same outfit.

Not because it's trendy.

Because it works.

It carries me through warm afternoons, cooler evenings, waterfront walks, golf cart rides into town, and dinners that somehow last until the sun disappears over the water.

I've realized that transitional dressing isn't about buying a whole new wardrobe.

It's about finding pieces that quietly work harder.

The T-Shirt I Never Think About

I almost never think about this Trendy Queen v-neck T-shirt.

That's exactly why it has become a staple.

When I throw a cashmere sweater over my shoulders, I never have to worry about the neckline competing with it or peeking through where I don't want it to.

It simply disappears into the outfit and lets everything else do its job.

I also love that the color doesn't feel tied to one season.

It still feels fresh in late summer, but it transitions naturally into fall.

Those are the purchases I appreciate the most.

The ones that quietly work longer than a single season.

The Best Outfits Don't Care What the Calendar Says

I've realized that transitional dressing isn't really about fall at all.

It's about buying pieces that don't need a season to justify wearing them.

A sweater that's perfect once the sun starts going down.

A pair of jeans that still feels comfortable in the afternoon heat.

A T-shirt that works whether it's worn on its own or layered.

Eventually, the weather decides what season it wants to be.
