The Work-From-Home Tops I Keep Wearing Until It Actually Gets Cold
Working from home has one problem nobody really talks about.
You're dressing for two different temperatures.
The house still feels cool when the coffee is brewing.
By afternoon, the sun has been pouring through the windows for hours.
Somewhere in between, you're also expected to look presentable on camera.
I've stopped trying to find one shirt that somehow does everything.
Instead, I keep rotating between the same three.
Each one solves a slightly different problem, and together they've become my work-from-home uniform until the weather finally decides it's ready for fall.
This is the shirt I reach for when I know I'll be spending more time on camera.
The wrap neckline frames well during Teams calls, the vertical stripes always look crisp, and it feels polished without feeling overly formal.
Some mornings I simply want to look a little more put together without putting much thought into getting dressed.
This is usually the shirt I grab.
It's one of those pieces that quietly makes me feel more confident before I even join my first meeting.
This is the shirt I wear when I have no idea what the day is going to look like.
Some days are filled with meetings.
Some days I barely leave my desk.
Some afternoons I end up running errands after work.
This button-down handles all of it.
It's lightweight enough that I'm comfortable once the house warms up, but it still gives me a little extra coverage during cooler mornings.
I almost always roll the sleeves to my elbows before I even sit down with my first cup of coffee.
That small change makes it feel less structured and much more like real life.
It's polished enough for work but relaxed enough that I never feel like I'm wearing office clothes around the house.
This is the shirt I reach for when comfort wins.
The oversized fit is exactly what I want on long workdays, but the smocked sleeves keep it from feeling oversized in a sloppy way.
It still looks intentional.
It still looks finished - especially over leggings.
It just happens to be incredibly comfortable.
I've noticed that the pieces I wear most are rarely the ones that make the biggest statement.
They're the ones I never question putting on in the morning.

The Layer That Changes Everything
One of my favorite work-from-home tricks has nothing to do with buying another shirt.
It's treating these button-downs like lightweight jackets.
Underneath, I'll throw on a simple white Trendy Queen V-neck.
If the morning starts cool, I'll leave the button-down buttoned while I'm answering emails and making coffee.
By the afternoon, I simply unbutton it and wear it open over the V-neck.
It's a tiny change, but it gives me two completely different looks without changing outfits.
That's exactly the kind of versatility I appreciate this time of year.
Dressing for the Whole Day
I've realized that working from home isn't really about dressing up.
It's about dressing for a day that's constantly changing.
Cool mornings.
Warm afternoons.
Unexpected video calls.
A quick errand after work.
These three shirts have become the pieces I trust because they adapt to all of it without asking me to completely change outfits halfway through the day.
I've noticed that I don't really need a different wardrobe every time the seasons begin to change.
I just need a few pieces that give me options.
A shirt that feels polished on camera.
Another that's comfortable enough for a full day at home.
A simple white V-neck that completely changes the look of both.
Those aren't the loudest pieces in my closet.
They're simply the ones that keep proving they've earned their place.
