The Sunday Reset That Makes Monday Easier
I’ve never been someone who enjoys spending Sunday evening doing a bunch of chores.
By that point in the weekend, I’d rather be reading a book, sitting outside, or pretending Monday isn’t coming.
But over the years, I’ve found that a few small resets on Sunday make the entire week feel calmer.
Nothing complicated.
Nothing Instagram-worthy.
Just a handful of things that make Monday morning easier.
The Kitchen
The kitchen is usually where I start.
Not because I’m deep cleaning the house, but because I know I’ll appreciate waking up to a clean slate the next morning.
I unload the dishwasher, wipe down the counters, and make sure everything is generally back where it belongs.
It’s a small thing, but Monday morning feels noticeably calmer when I’m not starting the day with yesterday’s dishes staring back at me.
The Calendar
Then I take a quick look at my calendar.
Flights.
Meetings.
Appointments.
Dinner plans.
Anything that requires me to be somewhere at a certain time.
I travel frequently for work, and I’ve learned that most stress doesn’t come from having a busy week. It comes from being surprised by a busy week.
A quick review helps me walk into Monday knowing exactly what’s ahead.
Monday’s Outfit
Before I go to bed Sunday night, I decide exactly what I’m wearing on Monday.
The outfit doesn’t need to be exciting.
It just needs to be decided.
Whether I’m heading to the office, catching a flight, or working from home, it’s one less decision waiting for me when the alarm goes off.
And on busy mornings, that little bit of preparation makes a bigger difference than you’d think.
Travel Essentials
If I have a trip coming up, I do a quick check of the things I always travel with.
Chargers.
Raycon earbuds.
Travel tote.
Toiletries.
Nothing elaborate.
Just enough to make sure I won’t be searching for a charging cable the night before a flight or realizing my travel-size toothpaste disappeared somewhere along the way.
A few minutes on Sunday can save a surprising amount of scrambling later.
Coffee Ready
This one might be my favorite.
Before I head to bed, I make sure everything is ready for Monday morning.
Coffee stocked.
Travel mug clean.
Anything I’ll need before my brain is fully operational.
Monday morning me always appreciates this one.
Why It Works
What I like about this routine is that it doesn’t feel like work.
I’m not trying to optimize every minute of my life.
I’m not trying to squeeze more productivity out of the weekend.
I’m simply removing a few small points of friction before the week begins.
Because I’ve found that being prepared is calm.
That’s really the entire philosophy behind my Sunday reset.
Not perfection.
Not productivity.
Just making Monday morning a little easier. -LME
