The Summer Basics I Wear on Repeat

At a certain point every summer, I stop trying to reinvent my wardrobe.

The weather gets hotter, the humidity kicks in, and suddenly all I want are pieces that are easy, comfortable, and still feel a little elevated when I throw them on.

This has quietly become the formula I keep repeating.

The CRZ YOGA tank is one of those pieces I reach for constantly because it’s supportive without feeling heavy or restrictive in the heat. I’ve learned that when it’s humid outside, the last thing I want to think about is uncomfortable layers or a “real” bra situation. This just works.

I pair it with the black SPANX skort more than almost anything else in my closet lately. It’s comfortable enough for errands, coffee runs, walking around coastal towns, or casual dinners — but still somehow makes the outfit feel pulled together. The built-in shorts make it easy, and the clean shape keeps it from feeling overly athletic.

On especially hot days, I rotate in the Halara shorts because they’re lightweight and breathable without looking sloppy. That’s usually what I’m looking for this time of year: pieces that feel relaxed but still intentional.

And lately, my Onitsuka Tiger slip-on sneakers have basically become part of the uniform. They’re sleek, comfortable, and somehow work with everything from skorts to travel outfits to casual dinners. I keep throwing them on without even thinking about it.

The older I get, the more I appreciate pieces that hold up in humidity, travel well, mix together easily, and still make me feel put together without requiring a lot of effort. I’m much less interested in constantly chasing trends and much more interested in finding repeatable formulas that actually work for my real life.

That’s really become the foundation of Looks More Expensive for me.

Not dressing perfectly. Just finding elevated pieces I genuinely want to wear again and again. -LME
