The Travel Tee I Reach For Constantly
There are a handful of pieces in my closet that quietly do all the heavy lifting, and these Trendy Queen tees are one of them. They’ve become my default travel shirt — on flights, under blazers at conferences, layered with cardigans, or worn casually with leggings and sneakers when I’m running through an airport.
They’re one of those rare basics that somehow feel more elevated than they should for the price.
What makes them work so well is the fabric blend: 88% polyester and 12% spandex. The material has enough structure to hold its shape, enough stretch to stay comfortable all day, and it washes incredibly well. It doesn’t get limp or sad after a few wears the way a lot of inexpensive tees do.
And importantly: the white isn’t see-through.
That alone makes them worth keeping around.
I also love how easy they are to pack. They layer beautifully, don’t wrinkle easily, and still look pulled together after long travel days. I’ve worn them under jackets for conferences, with joggers on flights, and with denim for casual dinners. They’re one of the easiest “real life” staples I own.
The neckline options are another reason I keep reordering them. They come in several versions, but my personal favorites are:
Each one gives a slightly different feel while still keeping that clean, polished look. I also love that they come in both long sleeve and short sleeve versions, which makes them useful year-round.
They also come in a huge range of colors, which makes them easy to build into a travel wardrobe. I tend to stick to neutrals and a few polished pops of color for travel, but there are tons of options depending on your style.
And yes — I buy new white ones every season.
Partly because they’re amazingly affordable, but mostly because I love having crisp bright white tees in rotation. Most of the tees are usually around $14.99, but they frequently go on Lightning Deal sales for anywhere from about $8.99 and up, which honestly makes it easy to refresh them without guilt.
A fresh white shirt just makes everything feel more expensive and intentional.
To keep the white ones looking good, I wash them with OxiClean, which helps maintain that bright clean white without dinginess. One important note though: don’t put them in the dryer. Air drying keeps the fabric looking smoother, helps preserve the stretch, and extends the life of the shirt quite a bit.
For a basic tee, they genuinely overperform.
They’re not flashy. They’re not logo-heavy. They’re just dependable, flattering, easy to wear, and surprisingly polished — which is exactly the kind of piece I’m always looking for. -LME
