The Samsonite Set I’ve Used for the Last Five Years

Some purchases quietly become part of your life, and this Samsonite luggage set is one of those for me.

I bought this three-piece set about five years ago, and after years of airports, conferences, international trips, rental cars, hotel check-ins, and early morning flights, it’s still the set I reach for first.

At this point, these suitcases have traveled to more than 10 countries with me — including a two-week trip through Norway, Finland, and Sweden where I packed entirely in the 24” checked suitcase.

That middle size is honestly the one I use most often for personal trips. It’s roomy enough for longer trips without feeling oversized, and over the years I’ve gotten much better at maximizing my clothes instead of overpacking. I’ve used the 28” suitcase a handful of times too, but most of the time the 24” handles exactly what I need.

And the carry-on has probably seen the most airport miles of all.

Back when I used to wheel it through terminals more often, I loved how easily it rolled through airports. I could stack my Tumi tote right on top and comfortably roll everything in front of me instead of dragging luggage behind me. Even now, years later, the spinner wheels still glide beautifully through airports and hotels.

Part of the reason I originally bought Samsonite — and why I’ve stayed loyal to the brand — is the 10-year warranty. Their luggage is rigorously tested, and these suitcases have absolutely lived up to that reputation.

The micro-diamond polycarbonate texture has also held up incredibly well over time. It’s surprisingly scratch-resistant, which helps the suitcases still look polished after years of real travel instead of looking worn down.

A few details I’ve continued to appreciate are the lightweight hard-shell construction, smooth spinner wheels, and durable handles and zippers that still feel solid years later.

Honestly, I ended up loving this set enough that I bought a second matching set for our entire family.

Five years later, they still look polished, still travel beautifully, and still make every trip easier. -LME
