I didn't set out to stop buying candles.
It just... happened.
One day I realized I hadn't lit one in months.
Not because I stopped liking them.
Because I stopped needing them.
That surprised me.
Pura wasn't something I'd researched for years or added to a wish list.
It was actually a housewarming gift after I moved to the coast.
Almost a year later...
I've bought several more.
That's usually how I know something has earned a permanent place in my home.
Why I Stopped Buying Candles
Candles always felt like another thing to manage.
Light them.
Remember to blow them out.
Wonder whether I'd forgotten one before leaving the house.
Watch them tunnel.
Clean soot from the jars.
Replace them.
None of those things are particularly difficult.
They're just little bits of friction.
I realized I wasn't actually looking for candles.
I was looking for a house that always smelled good.
Those aren't the same thing.
Pura quietly solved that problem.
A house that smells good shouldn't require constant attention.
Now mine doesn't.
It simply smells the way I want it to.
Without asking me to think about it.
Every Room Has Its Own Personality
One of my favorite things about Pura isn't actually the fragrance.
It's that every room gets to feel a little different.
My office is where I spend most of my workday, so I keep the smaller Pura Home two-vial diffuser there and rotate between Marine and Sea Salt Driftwood.
They're bright.
Clean.
A little beachy.
Exactly how I want my office to feel while I'm working.
My bedroom is completely different.
I realize this is going to sound ridiculous...
But I wanted it to smell...
Pink.
Somehow Sweet Grace, Prosecco, and Pink Mimosa all smell pink to me.
Soft.
Pretty.
Calm.
I'm fully aware that sentence makes absolutely no scientific sense.
I also don't care.
It's exactly the feeling I wanted every time I walk into my bedroom. And since it’s a much larger room than my office, I use the Pure Home Plus diffuser.
Downstairs is next.
I'm finishing the last of the Bath & Body Works Wallflowers I'd already purchased before they discontinued my favorite scent, Sandbar.
I don't like wasting products.
But once that final refill is gone, another Pura is going downstairs.
That diffuser will rotate between Marine and Sea Salt Driftwood to give the main floor the same bright, clean coastal feeling I love upstairs.
Bathrooms?
Those each have their own smaller Pura Mini diffuser too.
I expected to own one.
Instead...
I somehow ended up giving every room its own personality.
The App Is Why It Works
The fragrances are wonderful.
The app is what made me stop thinking about fragrance altogether.
Everything runs on a schedule.
The diffusers turn on when I want them to.
Turn off when I don't.
The app tells me how much fragrance is left, reminds me when it's time to replace a vial, and lets me adjust the intensity without ever touching the diffuser itself.
It doesn't feel like another app to manage.
It actually removes one more thing from my mental checklist.
And that's exactly why I like it.
I Thought I'd Burn Through the Refills
This was one of my biggest concerns before I owned one.
I assumed I'd constantly be replacing fragrance vials.
That really hasn't been my experience.
Even running on a fairly generous schedule, the scents last surprisingly well.
Eventually I signed up for Pura's monthly fragrance subscription.
Not because I burn through fragrance so quickly.
Because I enjoy discovering new favorites without having to remember to order them.
Some months I find something new I love.
Other months simply remind me why my favorites became favorites in the first place.
It's become one of those deliveries I actually look forward to opening.
Who I Think Pura Is For
I'd recommend it to someone who:
Wants a home that always smells fresh without thinking about it.
Likes different scents in different rooms.
Prefers scheduling fragrance instead of managing candles.
Enjoys trying seasonal scents throughout the year.
Wants fragrance that's always there—but never overwhelming.
Who I Think Should Skip It
I probably wouldn't recommend it if you:
Love the ritual of lighting candles.
Only want fragrance once in a while.
Don't want another app in your life.
Don't like the idea of purchasing refill cartridges.
There's nothing wrong with any of those preferences.
Pura just solves a different problem.
Would I Buy It Again?
I've actually stopped asking myself that question.
Now I'm asking myself which room gets the next one.
I expected to own a single diffuser.
Instead, I now have one in my office.
One in my bedroom.
Several in the bathrooms.
And as soon as I finish that last Wallflower downstairs, another Pura is going there too.
I didn't replace candles because they stopped smelling good.
I replaced them because I found something that fit the way I actually live.
My house smells better.
I spend less time thinking about it.
And that's exactly what I hoped for. -LME
I'm not a Pura affiliate, so I don't earn anything if you buy one. The first diffuser was a housewarming gift, and every one I've added since has been my own purchase. I'm sharing it here for one reason: it's one of the few products that completely replaced something I used almost every day.
