I almost drove home.

The week had been long, and I was ready to call it a day. But as I passed the marina, the sunset was too beautiful to ignore.

I told myself I’d stay for five minutes.

An hour later, I was still standing there.

That evening reminded me why I keep reaching for the same handful of summer pieces. They’re comfortable, effortless, and always seem to work—even when the only plan is watching the boats drift in while the sun goes down.

Nothing special happened.

There wasn’t an event.

I simply watched the boats rock gently in the marina while the sky slowly changed from gold to soft shades of pink and blue. As the lights around the harbor began reflecting across the water, people quietly drifted home one by one.

I eventually did too.

Just a little later than I planned.

Funny enough, those extra few minutes watching the sunset ended up being my favorite part of the entire week.

Sometimes the best Fridays don’t need reservations.
