Friday Morning on the Water

Some Friday mornings are made for slow coffee and staying home.
Others are made for getting out on the water before the long weekend crowds roll in.

We took the boat out first thing Friday morning, and I wanted an outfit that felt comfortable, lightweight, and practical enough for several hours in the sun — without looking like I had just come from a workout class.

Lately, it’s become my version of a “Golf Cart Coastal” boat uniform: lightweight layers, SPF protection, and easy pieces I don’t have to think too hard about once we leave the dock.

The bright pink Magcomsen SPF shirt ended up being the perfect layer for the morning. It kept the sun off my shoulders without feeling heavy or overly athletic-looking, and I loved having the thumb holes for extra coverage while we were moving across the water. Underneath, I wore one of my favorite CRZ Yoga cropped tanks for a little extra support and a pop of color underneath the lightweight fabric.

For bottoms, I reached for the Baleaf SPF shorts because they’re comfortable enough to sit in all morning, dry quickly if they get splashed, and still feel put together enough for lunch afterward. That’s usually my goal with boating outfits — pieces that work for the actual boat, but still feel polished once you’re back on land.

I’ve also become very loyal to these Clarks sandals for coastal weekends. They’re supportive enough for walking around marinas, waterfront restaurants, and docks all day, but still lightweight and easy to slip on and off - I have a ton of colors.

And of course, my emotional support Brümate made the trip too.

At this point, it comes with me almost everywhere in the summer. It keeps drinks cold for hours, actually fits in cup holders, and has quietly become one of the most-used things I own during the warmer months. It comes with me on the golf cart, on the boat, to the beach — basically everywhere all summer long.

The sunglasses I wore were Goodrs — specifically because they’re inexpensive enough that if I lean over the side of the boat and accidentally send them into the marina, I’m annoyed… but not devastated. They stay put, they’re lightweight, and they’re perfect for active coastal days when I don’t want to worry about babying accessories.

That’s really the best way to describe this entire outfit: practical pieces that still feel elevated.

Because real coastal life usually looks a little less like a perfectly staged resort vacation and a little more like sunscreen, salty air, pink drinks, tangled hair, and trying not to lose your sunglasses in the water.

And honestly? That’s the version I like best. -LME
