My Elevated Makeup Setup
I’ve realized over the years that I function best when my counters feel calm.
Not empty. Not sterile. Just… contained.
I don’t like visual clutter sitting all over my bathroom counter, but I also didn’t want all of my everyday makeup and skincare shoved deep into drawers where I’d forget about it or make a mess digging through everything every morning.
So instead of buying a traditional makeup organizer, I repurposed a bread box.
And honestly? It completely changed the way my bathroom feels.
The fluted glass keeps everything softly hidden instead of fully exposed, which makes the entire setup feel more elevated and intentional. I can still see where everything is, but the products aren’t visually screaming at me every time I walk into the room.
Inside, I use clear drawer organizers to separate products by category:
everyday makeup
skincare
lip products
brushes
And the pink glass jars on top add a little touch of elegance and soften the black finish. I spray painted the tops black with Rustoleum.
Everything has a place, which means my counter stays cleaner and my mornings feel less chaotic.
I also love that it doesn’t feel overly “beauty influencer.” It feels more like furniture or decor — which is exactly the vibe I wanted for the bathroom.
One of the biggest shifts I’ve made in my home lately is focusing less on hiding everything away and more on creating systems that are both functional and beautiful enough to leave out.
Because when something looks good, you’re much more likely to maintain it.
And for me, this setup ended up being the perfect middle ground between:
accessible
organized
and visually calm.
Sometimes the most elevated spaces aren’t the most minimal.
They’re just the ones where everything finally has a home. -LME
