Friday Afternoon Happy Hour: Golf Cart Coastal Edition

There’s something about a Friday afternoon by the water that instantly shifts the mood. The emails stop feeling urgent, the coastal breeze kicks in, and suddenly the only real decision left is rosé or sparkling.

This has quietly become one of my favorite “Golf Cart Coastal” uniforms lately — relaxed, polished, comfortable, and easy enough for a waterfront happy hour with friends.

The hero of this look is definitely the striped button-up. I’ve always loved a relaxed coastal shirt, but this one works especially well because of the color palette. The soft coral stripe feels fresh and summery without screaming “beach vacation,” which makes it wearable far beyond vacation mode.

And yes — I am fully committed to the millennial French tuck.

I do a small front tuck into the white capris and let the back hang naturally over the fitted back of the pants. It gives shape without looking overly styled, and it keeps the outfit relaxed instead of stiff. It’s one of those little styling tricks that instantly makes casual pieces feel more intentional.

The white capris are another staple for me this time of year. They’re lightweight, flattering, and comfortable enough for wandering around town, hopping on the golf cart, or lingering at a marina-side restaurant longer than planned.

Then there’s the bag.

At this point, the pink Marc Jacobs Snapshot is rapidly becoming one of my signature pieces around town. I reach for it constantly because it’s genuinely practical while still adding personality to even the simplest outfit. The crossbody style is perfect for golf cart life — hands free, lightweight, and easy.

And somehow it still fits everything I actually need:

  • lip gloss

  • card wallet

  • phone

  • golf cart keys

The lipstick pink color also works with far more than you’d think. It’s become my version of a neutral statement piece.

And finally: the Onitsukas.

I especially love that this pair is canvas instead of leather because it gives the sneakers a much softer, summery feel. They look lighter visually, which works perfectly with coastal outfits and white denim. They’re comfortable enough for real life, but still polished enough that the outfit doesn’t lose its elevated feel.

Lately, these are the kinds of outfits I reach for most — pieces that feel comfortable enough for real life but still polished enough to look intentional. Coastal style always looks best when it feels effortless, and this combination has quickly become one of my favorite formulas for waterfront afternoons and casual evenings around town. -LME
