Everything I Grab Before Boat Day: Golf Cart Coastal Edition

Before we untie the lines, there are a few things I grab every single time.

Not because they're expensive.

Not because they're trendy.

Because after enough mornings on the water, they've earned a permanent spot in my boat bag.

I've forgotten plenty of things over the years.

A sweatshirt.

Extra sunscreen.

Even snacks.

But these are the pieces I don't leave behind anymore.

It All Starts With One Bag

Everything goes into the same Sea Bags tote.

If I'm carrying three different bags down the dock, I've already packed wrong.

This one holds the towels, the speaker, my sunglasses, the dry bag, and all the little things that somehow make a day on the water feel effortless. It stays by the door most of the summer, ready to go with just a few last-minute additions before I leave.

The Cooler That Earned Its Spot

There isn't much room on a boat.

Everything has to justify taking up space.

This Brumate backpack cooler does.

It keeps drinks cold for hours, leaves both hands free while I'm walking down the dock, and somehow carries more than it looks like it should. It quietly replaced every other cooler I used to bring.

The One Cup That Comes Everywhere

Coffee for early mornings.

Ice water during the afternoon.

Something sparkling when the sun starts to go down.

I don't really think about packing this Brumate tumbler anymore because it never leaves the rotation. If we're heading to the marina, it's coming with me.

Towels That Pack Smarter

I stopped bringing bulky beach towels a long time ago.

These Turkish towels dry quickly, take up almost no room, and somehow fit three times as much into the tote as traditional towels ever did.

One of those little upgrades that made boat days noticeably easier.

Sunglasses I Don't Worry About

I've learned that boats and expensive sunglasses don't always have a happy ending.

These Goodrs stay put, they're polarized, they float, and if the wind ever decides otherwise, replacing them doesn't ruin the rest of my weekend.

That's exactly what I want from boat-day sunglasses.

The Dry Bag

Water and phones have a way of finding each other.

This little dry bag has become one of those things I never think twice about packing. It protects my phone from surprise rain, splashes, and wet towels, and it's small enough that I hardly notice it's there until I need it.

Comfortable Shoes Matter

The dock is usually the first thing I walk across and the last thing I walk back.

These Reef boat shoes have become my favorite pair because they're lightweight, comfortable enough to wear all day, and have the kind of grip that makes moving around the boat feel easy.

They're one of those purchases that quietly replaced several other pairs.

Every Boat Day Needs a Soundtrack

A good Bluetooth speaker doesn't take up much space.

But somehow it changes the entire day.

Whether we're slowly cruising the waterfront or anchored somewhere for lunch, it's always one of the last things that goes into the tote before I zip everything up.

The Little Things That Make Boat Days Easier

Funny enough, there are plenty of things I don't pack anymore.

After enough boat days, I've realized I'd rather carry one thoughtfully packed tote than spend the day digging through things I never actually use.

These are the pieces that earned a permanent spot.

Everything else stayed home.

Because the best boat days usually don't start when the engine turns over.

They start while the coffee is still hot, the bag is packed, and the lines are about to come untied. -LME
