The 5 Things I’m Keeping in the Golf Cart for Fall
Summer may be winding down, but around here, golf cart season doesn’t suddenly end with Labor Day.
The afternoons are still warm. We’re still heading out for dinner, taking the long way home, or going for a ride before sunset. The difference is that once the sun goes down, the coastal breeze starts to matter a little more.
So I’m not changing everything in the cart for fall. I’m just swapping in a few things that make those cooler rides feel a lot better.
The Sweatshirt-Weight Blanket
During the summer, I’m much more likely to have a Turkish towel tossed over the back of the cart.
Once the evenings start getting cooler, I switch it out for a sweatshirt-weight blanket.
It’s incredibly soft, easy to grab, and makes everything feel a little cozier without being heavy or bulky. It’s exactly the kind of thing you appreciate once the sun disappears and the ride home suddenly feels ten degrees cooler than it did when you left.
The Helly Hansen Jacket I Keep Just in Case
This isn’t a new jacket. In fact, that’s part of why it works so well here.
I keep an older Helly Hansen Crew Hooded Midlayer jacket tucked inside the bench of the golf cart so it’s always there if the temperature drops a little lower than expected.
It’s lightweight, blocks the wind better than a sweater, and I don’t have to remember to bring a layer every time we leave the house.
Most of the time, it stays tucked away.
And then there’s that one evening when I’m very glad it’s there.
The Propane Heater
This propane heater is clutch once the coastal breeze really picks up at night.
It sounds slightly excessive until you’ve been driving home on the golf cart after sunset with cold air coming straight off the water.
Then it makes complete sense.
I don’t need the cart to feel like a heated car. I just want enough warmth to take the edge off so we can keep using it comfortably instead of automatically switching to the car as soon as the temperatures drop.
It earns its space very quickly.
The Coffee Mug That Comes Along for Fall Rides
My big summer tumbler gets plenty of use, but fall golf cart rides usually mean something different: coffee.
If I decide to make a quick run to the coffee shop for a latte, I’ll be bringing my BrüMate Insulated Coffee Mug.
It keeps my coffee warm, doesn’t require me to worry about spills while we’re bouncing along in the cart, and turns a simple coffee run into one of those little fall rituals I actually look forward to.
Golf cart. Latte. Cooler air.
That’s about as complicated as it needs to be.
The Speaker that Keeps the Music Playing
The speaker stays.
The weather may change, but the music does not.
My JBL Charge 6 comes along for sunset rides, quick trips downtown, evenings by the water, and those rides that were supposed to take ten minutes and somehow turn into an hour.
It’s one of those things that already earned a permanent place in the golf cart, so fall doesn’t really change anything.
It just changes the playlist.
I’m Not Putting the Golf Cart Away Yet
That’s really the entire fall reset.
The Turkish towel becomes a softer blanket.
An old Helly Hansen jacket stays tucked in the bench.
The heater comes out when the coastal breeze starts getting serious.
Coffee replaces some of the ice water.
And the speaker keeps doing exactly what it did all summer.
Summer may be winding down.
