Friday Dinner & Drinks on the Water

I wasn’t planning to go out that evening.

The week had been busy, I was already home, and changing into pajamas was sounding significantly more appealing than getting back in the golf cart. But a few friends texted and convinced me to meet them at one of our favorite waterfront restaurants.

As it turns out, they were right.

There’s something about sitting by the water at the end of the day that immediately slows everything down. The boats drift by. The breeze picks up. Everyone lingers a little longer over dinner. It’s one of the reasons I love living here.

Since I wasn’t planning to be out long, I reached for an easy outfit that I knew would work regardless of what the evening turned into.

The blush Trendy Queen fitted tee has become one of those pieces I reach for constantly. It’s simple, comfortable, and works with just about everything in my closet. I paired it with the white Trendy Queen wide-leg jeans, which were actually a recent addition.

I originally ordered these jeans in the light denim wash and ended up loving them so much that I immediately ordered the white pair, too. They’re relaxed without looking sloppy, comfortable enough for everyday wear, and easy to dress up or down depending on where you’re headed.

Before leaving, I threw my Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck over my shoulders.

That ended up being the smartest part of the outfit.

Once the sun started dropping, the breeze coming off the water picked up considerably. Even during the summer, evenings near the marina can cool down faster than you expect. The cashmere provided exactly the right amount of warmth without ever feeling bulky or heavy. It’s one of my favorite travel pieces for the same reason—it keeps me comfortable without overheating.

For shoes, I wore my Clarks Breeze Coral sandals. If you’ve followed Looks More Expensive for any length of time, you already know I’m not interested in uncomfortable shoes. These are lightweight, cushioned, and easy to wear for hours. The metallic rose gold finish also paired perfectly with the soft blush tones throughout the rest of the outfit.

By the time I got home, I was glad I’d gone.

The sweater ended up being necessary. The jeans were every bit as comfortable as the denim pair that convinced me to buy them in white. The sandals disappeared on my feet, which is usually the highest compliment I can give a shoe.

And the waterfront view wasn’t bad either.

Sometimes the best evenings are the ones you almost skip. -LME
