The 10-Minute Manicure That Makes Everything Look More Polished

I have no patience for sitting in a nail salon.

Not because I don’t like having my nails done. I do. I love how much more put together I feel when my nails look nice.

But at some point I realized I was spending hours sitting in a salon chair when I could have been working on Looks More Expensive, enjoying a good book on the beach, traveling somewhere new, or honestly doing just about anything else.

I also got tired of the upkeep.

And I definitely got tired of the damage to my natural nails.

That’s what led me back to press-on manicures.

Lately, I’ve been using CurvLife nails because, as it turns out, I have fairly curved nails and these fit my nail shape surprisingly well. Many press-ons don’t sit quite right on my nail beds, but these look more natural and feel more secure once they’re on.

I’ve also become a fan of their semi-solid glue. For me, it seems to last a little longer than some of the other application methods I’ve tried.

That said, I’m probably not the ideal test subject for nail longevity.

I’m ridiculously hard on my nails.

Between typing all day, hauling luggage through airports, unpacking deliveries, and whatever random handy-girl project I’ve convinced myself needs to happen that weekend, I’m not exactly helping the cause.

If a set of nails makes it through a trip, I’m usually calling that a win.

The nice thing about press-ons is that I don’t feel committed to them.

When I get home, I can switch to a different style, put on a fresh set, or simply give my nails a break until the next conference, trip, dinner out, or event.

That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons I’ve kept using them.

The other reason is cost.

Even if I go through four different sets in a month, I’m still spending less than I was on regular dip powder manicures. And unlike a salon appointment, I can put them on at home while I’m drinking my morning coffee.

Less than ten minutes later, I feel a little more polished.

For me, that’s really what Looks More Expensive has always been about.

Not perfection.

Not spending more money.

Just finding small upgrades that help everyday life feel a little more put together.

And lately, press-on manicures have become one of my favorite finishing touches. -LME
